For the second time this season, sophomore Maria Heckman of the Wright State track team has been selected as the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Heckman (Minster, OH/Minster) set a school record in the pole vault at the RedHawk Invitational Saturday in Oxford, Ohio, as she cleared a distance of 3.80 meters.  That broke her previous school record of 3.65 meters that she set at the Miami Duals on April 1.

Along with her top performance in the pole vault, Heckman, who also named the league's Field Athlete of the Week on April 4, holds the team's fourth-best time this season in the 100 meter dash and is a part of the second-best 4x100 meter relay team.

Away from the track, Heckman was selected to the Academic All-Horizon League Team on Monday as she holds a 4.00 grade point average in Finance.

Wright State competes this weekend, May 5-7, at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State.
