Five members of the Wright State track team have been named Academic All-League as announced Monday by the league office, the most by any school.

Senior Alexandra Brown (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs), who holds a 3.78 grade point average in Biological Sciences, set school records in the 1500 meter run at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on March 25, in the 3000 meter run at Miami Duals on April 1 and in the 5000 meter run at the Jesse Owens Classic on April 21.  This is the second time that Brown has been named Academic All-Horizon League this year as she was part of the Cross Country team.

Senior Gabrielle Markley (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek), majoring in Sports Science with a 4.00 GPA, holds the team's top distance this season in the shot put and javelin, second-best marks in the long jump and third-best in the 100 meter hurdles.  Markley was selected to the Indoor Track Academic All-Horizon League Team earlier this year and to the 2015-16 Outdoor Track Academic All-Horizon League Team.

Junior Katie Abrahamowicz (Beavercreek, OH/Carroll), a Psychology major with a 3.94 GPA, holds the team's top mark this season in the long jump and triple jump.  Abrahamowicz, like Markley, was selected to the Indoor Track Academic All-Horizon League Team earlier this year and to the 2015-16 Outdoor Track Academic All-Horizon League Team.

Sophomore Hailey Brumfield (Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe), who holds a 3.80 GPA in Sports Science, holds the team's top time this season in the 3000 meter steeplechase, second-best in the 5000 meter run and third-best in the 3000 meter run.  This is the second time that Brumfield has been named Academic All-Horizon League this year as she was part of the Cross Country team.

Sophomore Maria Heckman (Minster, OH/Minster), majoring in Finance with a 4.00 GPA, set a school record in the pole vault at the RedHawk Invitational last Saturday.  This is the second time that Heckman has been named Academic All-Horizon League this year as she was part of the Indoor Track team.

WSU had five student-athletes selected to lead the pack, while Oakland and Youngstown State each had four, Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky three each, Valparaiso two and Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy and UIC one a piece.

Wright State competes this weekend, May 5-7, at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State.
