Seniors Vanessa Madrigal and Linsey Verstrepen of the Wright State women's tennis team has been selected Academic All-Horizon League as the league released the team on Friday.
Madrigal (Highland, IN/Highland), who holds a 3.89 grade point average in Biomedical Engineering, has recorded 12 wins in singles play this season, including victories over Western Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green and Western Kentucky. She also has nine doubles wins, including Cincinnati, Indiana, Toledo, Dayton and Xavier.
Verstrepen (Westerlo, Belgium), who has a 3.91 grade point average in International Business, has posted 22 singles wins this season, including decisions over Cincinnati, Toledo, Dayton, Butler, Bowling Green, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Valparaiso, Detroit Mercy and Oakland. She also has 27 doubles wins, including Cincinnati, Toledo, Xavier, Dayton, Butler, Bowling Green, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Cleveland State and UIC.
This is the third straight year that Verstrepen has been named Academic All-League and is the second consecutive year for Madrigal.
Wright State closes out the regular season on Friday with a Horizon League road match at Northern Kentucky.
