The Wright State baseball team saw a lead slip away in the eighth, but bounced back with a run in the 11th for a 4-3 win over UT Martin Friday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.
WSU opened the scoring in the second as Gabe Snyder went to second on a single and an error and Seth Gray followed with a hit to right center. The Raiders extended the lead to 2-0 an inning later as Zach Weatherford had a single to left, stole second and scored on a Gray hit down the right field line.
The margin grew to 3-0 in the sixth as Gray led off with his second home run of the year to right, only to see the Skyhawks tie it with three runs in the eighth. UT Martin then loaded the bases with one out in the 11th, but Jorge Lozano pitched out of the jam with a pop up and a strikeout.
Wright State came up with the game-winner in the bottom of the frame as Gray doubled to right center, went to third on a Cory Heffron fly out and scored on Daniel Arthur's sacrifice fly to right.
Lozano (1-0) picked up his first collegiate win while starter Ryan Weiss threw six shutout innings, striking out seven, and Derek Hendrixson pitched three shutout innings in relief, fanning four.
Offensively, Gray finished four-for-five with three RBI and two runs scored.
Wright State (24-8) and UT Martin (12-19) close out the series with a single game Saturday at 1:00.
