The Wright State baseball team scored in five of eight innings, including six runs in the fifth, and rolled to a 14-0 win over UT Martin in the opener of a three-game series Thursday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
The Raiders quick took control of the contest with three runs in the first. After Matt Morrow singled to left center and Adrian Marquez walked, Gabe Snyder plated both with a triple down the right field line. Seth Gray followed with a hit through the left side of the infield to drive in Snyder.
WSU added a run in the third on JD Orr's first collegiate home run to right and tacked on two more runs in the fourth on a Morrow sacrifice fly and a Marquez infield single.
Wright State extended the margin to 12-0 with the six-run fifth, highlighted by a two-run single from Zach Weatherford and a two-run triple by Marquez. The Raiders then rounded out the scoring with two in the seventh, the first coming on a Marquez double and the second on an error.
On the mound, Jeremy Randolph (3-0), making his first start of the season, pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the second and finished with five scoreless innings overall for the win, scattering four hits while striking out two. Mitch Gremling, Daniel Kreuzer and Jorge Lozano completed the shutout over the final four innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while fanning four.
Offensively, Marquez went three-for-four with four RBI and two runs scored while Morrow had two hits, three runs scored and two RBI, Gray two hits and Snyder and Weatherford two RBI each.
Wright State (23-8) and UT Martin (12-18) continue the series with a single game Friday afternoon at 2:00.
