The Wright State softball team won a pair of games Saturday over Green Bay at the Mel Nicks Sports Complex in De Pere, Wisconsin, taking the opener 2-1 and the second game 8-3.
The Raiders opened the first game scoring with a run in the first on consecutive singles by Macey Gunther, Honnah Susor and Vivi Marquez and added another run in the fourth as Alexis Mayle singled and pinch-runner Karalyn Rhodeback scored on a Becka Peterson double to right center.
Green Bay tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Ally Russell (3-4) held on to the lead in earning the complete-game victory, scattering eight hits.
At the plate, Gunther, Marquez and Mayle each had two hits.
The Phoenix took the early lead in game two with a run in the first, only to see WSU go in front for good with two runs in the third on a Gunther RBI single and a Marquez sacrifice fly. Wright State then made it 4-1 in the fifth on RBI singles by Gunther and Marquez.
Green Bay cut the margin to 4-3 with two runs of its own in the fifth, only to see the Raiders break the game open with three runs in the sixth. Kelly Dillow doubled in the first run and Kate Pfeffer later singled in two.
WSU added another run in the seventh on a Peterson hit to round out the scoring.
Ashley Sharp (5-8) allowed one earned run in a complete-game effort, striking out six in the process. At the plate, Libby Pfeffer, Gunther, Marquez, Peterson and Kate Pfeffer each had two hits.
Wright State (8-16, 3-2 Horizon) looks to complete the series sweep with the final game set for Sunday at noon Eastern.
