The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Blues City Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, falling to Belmont 5-2 and to host Memphis 1-0.
In the opener, Belmont scored four in the bottom of the second before the Raiders answered with a run in the third. Libby Pfeffer and Ashton Salyers opened the frame with singles and, two outs later, Vivi Marquez delivered a hit to left to drive in Pfeffer.
The Bruins added a run in the third and it stayed that way until WSU tacked on a run in the fifth on a Macey Gunther sacrifice fly.
Wright State, though, could get no closer as they stranded two runners on base in the fifth and sixth.
Honnah Susor, Marquez and Pfeffer each had two hits to pace the Raider attack.
In the second game, it was quite a pitcher's duel between WSU's Ally Russell and Katie Brignac of Memphis, with the Tigers pushing across the only run of the game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Susor and Marquez again had two hits as did Kelly Dillow for the Raiders.
Wright State (3-12) wraps up tournament play on Sunday at 12:15 Eastern against Tennessee State.
