The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Friday at the Hilltopper Spring Fling in Bowling Green, Kentucky, falling to Illinois State 3-0 and to Austin Peay 3-2.
In the first game of the day, Illinois State scored a pair of runs in the second and then added a solo home run in the sixth to round out the scoring. WSU outhit ISU 8-6, but left the bases loaded in the sixth and stranded two in the seventh.
Macy Cook had two hits to pace the Raider offense while in the circle, Ashley Sharp struck out two in a complete-game effort.
In the second game, Wright State opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first. Honnah Susor led off with an infield hit and went to third on a Kate Pfeffer bunt and a Cook infield single. Becka Peterson and Alexis Mayle followed with RBI hits to plate Susor and Cook, respectively.
Sophomore starting pitcher Ally Russell, making her first appearance of the season, allowed no hits and no runs over her four innings of work. Austin Peay, however, tied the score with two runs in the fifth and tallied the game-winning run in the seventh.
Wright State (2-5) continues tournament play on Saturday with two more games, taking on Indiana State at 10:30 Eastern followed by host Western Kentucky at 4:00 Dayton time.
