Wright State senior Alexandra Brown has been selected as the Horizon League Track Runner of the Week for the week ending February 19, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Brown (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) set a new school record in the 1 mile run at the Ball State Quad on February 17, winning the event with a timeof 5:05.38. The time broke the old school record of 5:05.84, set by Marie McVetta in 2005.
Brown, who set a school record in the 3000 meter run (10:04.31) at the Marshall Invitational on February 11, also holds WSU's second-best time this season in the 5000 meter run. This is her second Runner of the Week honor this season as she previously was recognized on January 24.
Wright State will compete at the Horizon League Indoor Championships this weekend, February 25-26, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site in Youngstown, Ohio.
