Men’s Basketball Plays at NKU Tuesday

With a four-game winning streak, the Wright State men’s basketball team will play at Northern Kentucky Tuesday at 7 pm.

Wright State: The Raiders, 19-9 and 10-5, have won eight of the last 10 games and four straight.  The Raiders won two on the road: at Youngstown State 84-81 and at Cleveland State 74-68 in double overtime.  It was the first WSU double OT game since 2013.

Grant Benzinger led the WSU comeback win at CSU with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Steven Davis added 17 points.  Mark Alstork led the Raiders with 33 points at Youngstown State

Alstork continues to lead the Raiders with 18.6 points per game while Davis is at a 15.0 clip.  Justin Mitchell is at 11.6 points and 8.5 rebounds.  Benzinger is averaging 12.1 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

Last Game: The Raiders won 74-68 at Cleveland State in two overtimes.  Besides Benzinger’s 26 and Davis’ 17, Mitchell collected nine points and 10 boards while freshman Ryan Custer had a career-high seven points and three steals.  Mike La Tulip had eight rebounds and four steals.  WSU trailed by six at half but pulled away in the second OT, outscoring the Vikings 14-8.

Series: Wright State leads the overall series 21-8 but KNU won at the Nutter Center 83-79 on February 4.  In that game, Alstork led WSU with 27 as Mitchell ended with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Northern Kentucky: Northern Kentucky, 18-10 and 9-6, lost at Youngstown State 81-77 Saturday to break a four-game winning streak that started at WSU on February 4 by a score of 83-79.  Drew McDonald leads the Norse with 15.8 points and 7.7 rebounds a game.  Three others average in double figures: Levone Holland (13.4), Carson Williams (10.7) and Cole Murray (10.2).
