Men’s Basketball hosts Milwaukee and Green Bay

The Wright State men’s basketball team will host Milwaukee Thursday and Green Bay Saturday.  Both games will start at 7 pm.

Follow the Raiders: Wright State’s games this week can be seen on ESPN3 or heard on 106.5 FM and iHeart app.  Thursday will be shown on the ASN Network (ch. 22.2 locally) and Saturday will be shown live on Spectrum (Time Warner’s) SportsChannel.

Promotions: Thursday night is Fairborn Night.  Fans can use the promo code FAIRBORN when ordering tickets.  Saturday night is WSU Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night and White Out Night as the first 5,000 fans will get a FREE white t-shirt.  The halftime act will be the Russian Bar Trio that gained fame from America's Got Talent.  There will also be DiBella's couponing after the game.

Wright State: The Raiders, 15-9 and 6-5, have won four of the last six games while averaging 81.0 points a game, five points higher than the season average.  Over the last two contests, WSU has shot 50.1% from the field, more than seven percentage points higher than the season.

Mark Alstork continues to lead the Raiders with 18.3 points per game while Steve Davis is at a 15.0 clip.  Justin Mitchell is at 11.8 points and 8.3 rebounds, as he is averaging 10.8 boards over the last eight games from his point guard spot.  Grant Benzinger is averaging 11.0 points per contest.

Last Game: The Raiders fell 83-79 to Northern Kentucky at home Saturday night before the season’s largest crowd.  Alstork led the Raiders with 27 points, including four threes.  Mitchell added 18 points and nine rebounds.  WSU shot 51% from the field and outscored NKU in the paint 38-30.  The Raiders hit 10 threes for the 12th time in 24 games.

Series: Wright State narrowly trails the Milwaukee series 28-27 after winning 70-67 at UWM in January.  Green Bay leads 31-25, including a loss at GB 78-61 last month.

Milwaukee: The Panthers, 8-17 and 4-8, have lost three straight and have played overtime in four of the last five contests, including losing the most recent game 105-100 at UIC Saturday.  Cody Wichmann leads the Panthers in scoring at 13.1 points per game and Brock Stull is second at 12.8 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds.  WSU won the last meeting 70-67 on January 14 as Mitchell ended with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Raiders..

Green Bay: The Phoenix, 15-9 and 9-3, currently sit in second place after beating first-place Valparaiso at home Saturday 86-69.  Four GB players average double figures, led by Charles Cooper at 13.3 as well as Khalil Small (10.6), Kerem Kanter (10.5) and Warren Jones (10.4).  Cooper, Small, Kanter and Kenneth Lowe all average just better than five rebounds a game.  Green Bay won the matchup with the Raiders on January 12 by a score of 78-61.  WSU’s Grant Benzinger had 14 points in that game.

Looking Ahead: WSU ends its three-game homestand this weekend and will play at Youngstown State Thursday and at Cleveland State Saturday.
