Senior Krystian DeWitt of the Wright State softball team has been selected as the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 13, it was announced Monday by the league office.
DeWitt (Garden Grove, CA/Pacifica) picked up two victories on the week as she became WSU's all-time strikeout leader in the process. After striking out six in four innings at #11 Kentucky on April 8, she tied a career high by fanning 11 in pitching a six-hit shutout victory at Detroit on April 12. DeWitt then closed out the week with three strikeouts in four innings of relief to earn the win at Detroit on April 13.
In striking out 20 for the week, DeWitt passed Kristin Bultinck (2000-03, 581 strikeouts) for the top spot on Wright State's all-time list and now has 587 for her career. Two weeks ago, she went ahead of Bultinck to become the career win leader for the Raiders and currently has 50 altogether.
Wright State (10-25, 6-4 Horizon) has a busy week ahead, hosting Ohio State for a single game on Tuesday at 5:00 and Marshall for a doubleheader on Wednesday at 3:00 before traveling to Youngstown State for a three-game Horizon League series that starts with a 3:00 twinbill on Friday.
