The Wright State baseball team competes at the Joe Nuxhall Classic and hosts Milwaukee to highlight the upcoming week.

Baseball: The Wright State baseball team is currently 15-14, 9-2 Horizon after losing to Toledo and winning one of a three-game series at Valparaiso.

The Raiders begin the week by competing in the Joe Nuxhall Classic in Oxford on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Wright State will take on Cincinnati (11-18) at 3:00 on Tuesday and either host Miami (12-17) or Xavier (16-13) on Wednesday at either 3:00 or 6:30.

WSU then returns to Horizon League over the weekend by hosting a three-game set against Milwaukee (9-12, 4-2) at Nischwitz Stadium.  The series will start with a single game on Friday at 6:30 and continue with single games on Saturday (2:00) and Sunday (1:00).

 

Softball: The Wright State softball team is 7-23, 3-4 Horizon after winning one of five games last week.

The Raiders are on the road for five games again this week, starting with a single game at Kentucky (31-8) on Tuesday at 6:00.  On Thursday, WSU will head across town to take on Dayton (14-21) at 4:00.

This weekend, Wright State travels to Detroit (3-24, 0-3) for a three-game series.  The series begins with a doubleheader Saturday at noon, followed by a single game on Sunday, also at noon.

 

Track & Field: The Wright State track and field team took part in the Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational in Athens this past weekend.

Kacia Grant recorded WSU’s only first place finish with a time of 25.27 in the 200 meter dash. Grant also placed second in the 100 dash clocking in at 12.33. The Raider 4x100 relay team of Kalynn Daniels, Grant, Brandy Daniels and Sarah-Ann Blount finished third (48.75) while the 4x400 relay team of Kaley Moss, Grant, Katasha Griffiths and Brittany Jones placed fourth (3:58.65).

The Raiders will travel to Cincinnati this week to compete in the All-Ohio Championships. The meet will take place on Friday and Saturday.

 

Men’s Tennis: The men’s tennis team currently owns a 10-10, 4-1 Horizon record after a 5-1 win over Detroit on Saturday.  The win included singles victories by Hayden Joblin, Lauri Makikalli, Ricardo Pineda and Marc Sodini while the duos of Myles Harris/Pineda and Dan Gilbert/Makikalli also posted wins.

WSU will take on Duquesne (13-5) at home on Friday before ending the week with a road match against Louisville  (16-5) at 10:00 am on Sunday.

 

Women’s Tennis: The women’s tennis team is 8-14, 2-4 Horizon, including a 5-2 win over Oakland on Sunday.  Linsey Verstrepen, Vanessa Madrigal, Aby Madrigal and Megan Brdicka each picked up wins in singles play while the duos of Vanessa Madrigal/Tori Turner and Brdicka/Aby Madrigal did the same in doubles play.

The Raiders host Xavier (14-5) in its only match this week on Wednesday at 3:00.

 

Golf: The Raider golf team returns to action at the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, Saturday and Sunday. 

 

Soccer: The men's soccer team hosts Northwestern Ohio (5:00) and Urbana (7:00) Tuesday night at Alumni Field before wrapping up the spring schedule on Saturday at IUPUI (7:00).
