The Wright State baseball team defeated Valparaiso 4-2 in the Horizon League series finale between the two teams Sunday at Emory G. Bauer Field.

WSU picked up a run in the second on a Jeff Limbaugh sacrifice fly and extended the lead to 3-0 in the fifth on a Brad Macciocchi sacrifice fly and a Sean Murphy RBI single.

Valpo cut the deficit to 3-1 with a run in the fifth, but the Raiders got that run back in the seventh as Kieston Greene singled in Jason DeFevers.

The Crusaders scored a run in their half of the seventh, but would get no closer as they stranded two runners in the eighth and one more in the ninth.

Taylor Braun (3-1) picked up the win after starter Darion Nunn pitched four shutout innings.  Andrew Elliott earned his sixth save by going the final 1.1 innings, striking out three.

Offensively, Michael Timm went four for five while Murphy and Joe Ford each had two hits.

Wright State (15-14, 9-2 Horizon) will take part in the sixth annual Joe Nuxhall Classic Tuesday and Wednesday at McKie Field at Hayden Park on the Miami campus.  The Raiders open the tournament by taking on Cincinnati Tuesday at 3:00.
