The Wright State baseball team was down just 5-3 in the fifth, only to see Penn State score the final six runs of the contest to record an 11-3 win in the series finale Sunday at Medlar Field.
The Nittany Lions opened the scoring with three runs in the first before WSU answered in the second as singles by Kody Krizman and Cody Gardner along with an error produced a run.
Penn State tacked on two more runs in its half of the second and it stayed that way until the Raiders cut the deficit to 5-3 with two unearned runs in the fifth.
WSU, though, would get no closer as PSU tallied two runs in the fifth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Gardner had two hits for Wright State (12-16), which returns to action on Tuesday, April 9, as the Raiders take on Miami in the opening game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic at Cincinnati's Marge Schott Stadium. Game time is 3:00.
