The Wright State spring sports continue into April this week as baseball, softball and men's tennis host events.

 

Baseball:  The baseball team will host Otterbein and Cincinnati Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 before traveling to play three games at Penn State Friday through Sunday at 6, 2 and Noon.

With a record 9-14, 4-5, Wright State has been led by Kieston Greene at .356 with four homeruns, Mark Fowler at .353 with 15 runs scored and Sam Picchiotti at .319 with six doubles.  Travis Hissong holds a 2.70 ERA with two saves in 10 appearances.

Otterbein is currently is 14-3 while the Bearcats hold a record of 9-15 and 1-5 in the Big East.  Penn State is 5-18, 0-6 in the Big 10.

 

Softball:  The softball team will play make up games at Valparaiso Monday at 4 pm and two Tuesday at 3 pm before hosting Youngstown State Saturday at 1 pm for two and Sunday at Noon for a single game.  Saturday’s first game will be seen live on the HLN.

WSU is currently 5-19, 2-1 after beating Horizon League foe Cleveland State twice this past weekend.  Jess Gorman leads the team in hitting with a .307 average with five doubles and five RBI.  Krystian DeWitt holds a 2.65 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 17 appearances.

Valpo will carry a record of 15-12, 2-1 into this week’s series while Youngstown is currently 3-11 and will open its league slate at WSU next weekend.

 

Men’s Tennis:  The men’s tennis team will host Xavier at the WSU Tennis Courts or at South Regency Tennis Center on Wednesday at 3 pm before traveling to play at Ohio State Sunday at 5:30 pm.

The Raiders are now 12-6 overall and 3-0 in league play. 

 

Women’s Tennis:  The women’s tennis team will compete once this week with a match at Cincinnati Wednesday at 3 pm.

The Raiders are now 6-11 and 2-1 in league play.

 

Track: The track team will compete in the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio, Friday and Saturday.

 

Golf: The golf team will compete in the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Inidana, Saturday and Sunday.  The Raiders placed 10th in the Bash at the Beach in March.  WSU will have one more tournament, at Detroit, before playing in the Horizon League Championships at the end of the month.
