Junior guard Ivory James has been selected as the Horizon League women's basketball Newcomer of the Week for the week ending March 3, it was announced Monday by the league office.
James (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds in two road games last week. In an 83-78 overtime win at Valparaiso on Thursday, February 28, James had 12 points and tied a season-high with eight rebounds coming off the bench. On Saturday, March 2, at Youngstown State, she tied a season-high with 22 points in 26 minutes of action off the bench. James was eight of 14 from the field, including five of eight from three-point range, and also grabbed five rebounds.
James is currently 15th in the Horizon League in scoring at 11.5 points per game and ranks fourth in three-point percentage (.380) and 13th in overall field goal percentage (.427).
This is the second Newcomer of the Week honor for James this season as she was also selected on January 28.
Wright State (11-17, 5-10 Horizon) wraps up the regular season on Thursday, March 7, by hosting Cleveland State at 7:00.
