The Wright State men's tennis team battled #52 Michigan State to the end, but fell short in a 4-3 season-opening decision Saturday in East Lansing.
The Raiders won the doubles points as Michal Lyzwa/Lauri Makikalli won 8-6 in second doubles and Evan Neuman/Ricardo Pineda won 8-5 in third doubles. WSU was also victorious in two singles matches as Lyzwa won in three sets in fifth singles and Dan Hyman won in straight sets in sixth singles.
Michigan State, however, won each of the first four singles matches to claim the 4-3 victory.
Wright State (0-1) opens the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, January 19, as the Raiders host Duquesne at the South Regency Tennis Center in Springboro starting at 4:00.
