Raiders Roll to 92-59 Win Over VMI

Down 10 early, the Wright State men's basketball team outscored VMI by 20 to close out the first half and then added 54 more points in the second half in rolling to a 92-59 decision over the Keydets Saturday night at WSU's Nutter Center.

VMI scored the first five points of the game and led 16-6 on a Tim Marshall three with 12:31 remaining in the first half.  The margin was still eight at 23-15 before the Raiders went on a 15-0 run over a 4:13 span, six by Miles Dixon and five from Regge Arceneaux, to take the lead for good. 

The Keydets closed to within two before WSU tallied the final eight points of the half, including three more from Arceneaux, to go up 38-28 at the break.

Wright State shot 44 percent in the first half while VMI hit for 35 percent.

WSU gradually extended its lead in the second half, going up as much as 35 twice in the final minutes.

The 92 points are the most by the Raiders since a 94-80 win over Green Bay on February 27, 2005.

Wright State shot 52 percent overall, was 19 of 22 from the foul line and led in points in the paint (48-16), points off of turnovers (17-6), second-chance points (13-7) and fast-break points (14-4).  VMI, meanwhile, shot 35 percent from the field and was 19 of 34 at the line.

Arceneaux paced WSU with a career-high 22 points, eclipsing his previous high of 19 set last December 20 against Idaho.  The sophomore guard also added seven assists.

Dixon added 15 for Wright State while Matt Vest had 11 points and six assists as 12 Raiders scored in the contest.

Marshall paced VMI (4-6) with 11 off the bench.

Wright State (6-3) heads to Hofstra on Saturday, December 15, for a 2:00 contest.
