The Wright State women's basketball team fell behind 13-0 at the start and could not recover in dropping a 72-54 decision at Miami Tuesday afternoon.
The RedHawks connected on three three-pointers in the opening 4:26 in building the 13-0 lead, only to see the Raiders answer with seven straight points, all coming from Kim Demmings. Miami, however, followed with another 13-0 run to go up 26-7 with 9:48 remaining in the first half.
WSU again chpped away, closing the deficit to 29-19 on a KC Elkins jumper at the 3:51 mark, before the RedHawks tallied 10 of the final 12 points to go up 39-21 at the half.
Miami shot 49 percent from the field in the first half compared to 21 percent for the Raiders.
Wright State would get no closer than 14 the rest of the way in shooting 30 percent overall while the RedHawks finished at 45 percent.
Demmings led WSU with 21 points, 14 after halftime, but no other Raider reached double figures.
Courtney Osborn paced Miami (5-3) with 16 points while Hannah Robertson had 15 and Erica Almady (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Kirsten Olowinski (12 points, 17 rebounds) each posted double-doubles.
Wright State (2-4) faces another Mid-American Conference school on the road this weekend as the Raiders head to Akron Saturday for a 2:00 contest.
