The offense came alive for the Wright State women's soccer team Saturday afternoon as the Raiders rolled to a 5-1 Horizon League win at Cleveland State.
Freshman Kalee Thompson gave the Raiders the lead just 5:43 into the contest as she converted a pass from junior Liz Soto in front of the CSU goal. It was the second goal of the season for Thompson and the first assist for Soto.
Thompson then helped make it 2-0 at the 20:59 mark of the first half as she provided the assist on the first-ever collegiate goal by fellow freshman Natalie Sedlock. It was third assist of the year for Thompson.
Ini Umotong then tallied WSU's third straight goal by a freshman as she connected on a shot from the left side off a pass by senior Emilie Fillion at the 27:18 mark of the period. Umotong now has a team-high seven goals on the season while Fillion has three assists.
The Vikings broke up the shutout with a penalty kick goal at the 38:39 mark, only to see Wright State answer right back 66 seconds later as Fillion scored her fifth goal of the year on a loose ball. Senior Adrianna Guerrero rounded out the scoring at the 63:52 mark of the second half with her second goal of the season.
WSU led 16-10 in shots despite Cleveland State holding a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
