Down 1-0 at the break, the Wright State women's soccer team exploded for four goals in a five-minute span, two by Ashley Miltko, to defeat IUPUI 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis.
The Jaguars scored late in the first half as Grace Perkowitz connected on a header at the far post at the 41:14 mark, with Kristin Pierce getting credit for the assist.
It stayed that way until the Raider offense came alive in the second half. At the 65:23 mark, Miltko tied the match as her shot from 12 yards out on the left side went in for her second goal of the season. Freshman Ini Umotong provided the assist, her second of the year.
WSU then went in front for good three minutes later at the 68:37 mark as Umotong recorded her second goal of the season as she scored off a rebound of her own shot.
Senior Emilie Fillion made it 3-1 just 36 seconds later at the 69:13 mark as she also had a rebound goal from five yards out, giving her four goals on the year. Fellow senior Adrianna Guerrero notched the assist, her first of 2012.
Miltko then rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the day and third of the season at the 70:18 mark as the sophomore connected on a shot from the left wing. Fillion was credited with the assist, her second of the year.
For the match, the Raiders outshot IUPUI 29-10, including 18-4 after halftime, and had 11 corner kicks compared to just two for the Jaguars. Junior goalkeeper Brooke McCurdy recorded four saves.
Wright State (3-1-3) travels across town on Friday, September 14, for an 8:00 matchup against Dayton (5-3) at Baujan Field.
