The Wright State volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to Miami Saturday morning at the Thunder Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia. The RedHawks won the match 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.
The Raiders trailed just 6-4 in the opening set following a Heidi Splinter kill, only to see Miami follow with a 10-2 run. In the second set, WSU trailed 12-9 after a service error before the RedHawks tallied seven of the next eight points.
Wright State again hung close early in the final set as another Splinter kill trimmed the deficit to 9-8, but Miami answered with a 10-3 burst to take control.
The RedHawks finished with a 38-19 kill advantage and outhit the Raiders .258-.023.
Splinter paced WSU with five kills while Marisa Aiello and Samantha Daniel had four each. Libero Katie Glassmeyer had 15 digs.
Wright State (0-2) closes out play in the tournament later Saturday at 5:30 as the Raiders face IUPUI.
