Menís Basketball Releases 2012-13 Schedule
Release: Saturday 09/01/2012
by WSU Athletic Media Relations

The Wright State men's basketball program has released its schedule for the 2012-13 season, Raider head coach Billy Donlon announced Saturday.

The slate is highlighted by trips to New York City, Utah and Cincinnati as well as games against two Mid-American Conference foes and Horizon League teams that return eight of the 10 post-season honorees from last year.  The schedule includes renewing old rivalries and starting new ones.

"I am excited about the upcoming schedule," Donlon said.  "We added an old rival in Bowling Green while continuing the tradition of playing multiple opponents from the BCS conferences, and the majority of our non-conference opponents will be picked at the top of their respective conferences."

The Raiders start the season at Idaho, a team that advanced to the 2012 Collegeinsider.com Tournament after losing to WSU at the Nutter Center last season, and at former Mid-Con (Summit League) foe Eastern Illinois.  WSU opens the home portion of the schedule against North Carolina A&T before traveling to Salt Lake City for a three-game tournament hosted by Utah over the Thanksgiving weekend.  The Raiders will play host Utah as well as Idaho State and Central Michigan in the event.

December starts with a home contest against Morehead State of the Ohio Valley Conference before travelling to Bowling Green and hosting VMI.  Back on the road, WSU plays at Hofstra, a team that the Raiders defeated as part of the 2011 BracketBuster.   Miami comes to town on December 19 before Wright State travels to play at 2012 Sweet 16 participant Cincinnati on December 22.  WSU will host Mount St. Joseph on December 30.

The Horizon League schedule goes into full swing in January with home games against Green Bay, Milwaukee and Cleveland State before the Raiders hit the road for games at Valparaiso, Detroit and Youngstown State.   UIC, Detroit and Loyola visit the Nutter Center to end January and start February.

The Raiders head north to play at Green Bay and Milwaukee in early February, then switch home and away games with Valpo, a BracketBuster game and Youngstown State at home and Cleveland State and UIC on the road.

The Horizon League Tournament will start at campus sites on March 5 with the second round and semifinals at the regular-season champion's venue March 8 and 9.  The championship will be played at the highest remaining seed on March 12.

Season tickets for the 2012-13 season are now on sale and start at only $160. Season ticket holders receive special benefits throughout the year, including a complimentary ticket to the Horizon League Tournament first-round game (if WSU hosts).  For more information, visit wsuraiders.com.  To order your tickets, call the athletics department at (937) 775-2771.
