Senior Martin Arguello has been selected as the Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 15, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Arguello (Foz do Iguaca, Brazil) helped lift Wright State into sole possession of first place in the league standings Saturday with a 4-3 victory over Green Bay at the South Regency Tennis Center in Springboro. Arguello came through with the decisive point of the match at #1 singles, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
Arguello is 14-6 in dual match singles play this season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Horizon League action.
This is the second time that Arguello has been honored by the Horizon League this season as he was also recognized on March 6. It is the fifth overall for WSU in 2012, joining Hayden Joblin on January 24 and March 13 and Lauri Makikalli on February 28.
Wright State (16-4, 5-0 Horizon) will be looking to clinch its first Horizon League regular season title this weekend when the Raiders travel to Youngstown State and Cleveland State. The Raiders and Penguins will meet on Saturday, April 21, at 6:00 before taking on the Vikings on Sunday, April 22, at 3:00.
