Baseball Hosts Dayton

The Wright State baseball team will host cross town rival Dayton Tuesday night at WSU's Nischwitz Stadium.  Game time is 6:30 pm.

Tickets: Fans can buy tickets at the gate for $5 and $3 for children 3-13 while WSU students with a valid ID will receive free admission. 

Raiders: Wright State, 32-15, 18-5, won three of four games at home over the weekend, splitting with Northern Kentucky on Friday and sweeping Youngstown State Saturday.  WSU is now in a first-place tie with UIC.

In game one versus YSU, Derek Hendrixson (2-1) picked up the win after striking out the side in the top of the ninth.  At the plate, Matt Morrow and JD Orr each had two hits and scored twice while Orr and Adrian Marquez drove in two.

In the second game against YSU, Trevor Swaney (3-4) earned the win in relief with Hendrixson picking up his seventh save with a perfect ninth, including two strikeouts.  Offensively, Cory Heffron had three hits while Morrow, Orr, Gabe Snyder and Marquez had two each.  Morrow, Orr, Snyder and Kevin Whately each drove in two while Morrow, Orr and Marquez scored twice.

On the season, Morrow leads WSU with a .328 batting average with 31 RBI while Seth Gray is hitting .316 with 29 RBI.  Marquez and Snyder has team-highs 40 RBI and Snyder leads the Raiders with 12 homeruns.

Starters Danny Sexton (2.73 ERA), Zane Collins (2.65) and Ryan Weiss (1.60) anchor the early innings while Derek Hendrixson has collected seven saves, posting a 1.86 ERA.

Dayton: The Flyers, 16-30 and 6-12 in A-10 play, won two of three over the weekend at home against VCU.

Cale Dineen leads the Flyers with a .313 average in limited action as Brandon Smith is tops with 25 RBI and nine homeruns and Connor Echols has 23 RBI. 

WSU leads the overall series 83-44-1, including a WSU 5-4 win at Nischwitz on March 9 in 12 innings.

Next Up: The Raiders will play a doubleheader at Milwaukee Friday.
