The Wright State track team finished fourth as the Horizon League Outdoor Championships concluded Sunday at Farmers National Bank Field on the campus of Youngstown State University.

"For this team to finish fourth at Horizon League Championship is pretty remarkable, capping off an outstanding year for this program," WSU head coach Rick Williamson said.  "It's simply a testament to the character of all these women. They don't ask for anything, never complain, and just go about their business each day. And, Coach Sunday has done an absolutely fantastic job coaching so many different events."

Jessica Doepker won the 800 meter run while Victoria Angelopoulos placed second.  Brooklyn Mikesell was third in the 400 meter hurdles, Alexandra Brown fourth in the 5000 meter run, Sophia Angelopoulos fifth in the 400 meter hurdles and Aurora Turner fifth in the 5000 meter run.

"Ever since I started my running career at Wright State, I had a dream of being a better athlete." Doepker said.  "I not only did that but, in the process I made new friends, making them and my family proud and received my college degree."

"I feel like I accomplished so much with their support, winning the 800 at the Horizon League Championship after four years of training for it, was icing on the cake. My coach believed in me from the beginning, and I couldn't thank him more for pushing me as well as my teammates along the way for helping me. All my success is from them, my fiance and family who saw me work hard, and chase after this dream. I thank them for that."

Overall highlights, in addition to Doepker's win in the 800, Alex Brown won the 10,000, setting new league and school records while Maria Heckman won the pole vault with a new WSU mark.  All three received first-team honors.  Second-team honors went to Victoria Angelopoulos (800) while Gabrielle Markley (Heptathlon) and Brooklyn Mikesell (400 hurdles).
