The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational, falling 12-10 to UC Santa Barbara and 11-0 to Boston College.
In the first game, UC Santa Barbara scored twice in the top of the first, only to see the Raiders answer with a pair of their own in the bottom of the frame.
The Gauchos went back in front with a run in the third, but again WSU had an answer in the bottom of the inning, this time three runs. An infield single by Jordan Kennaw drove in the first run and Ashton Salyers later smacked a two-run double to right.
Wright State tacked on another run in the fourth as Peterson doubled in Pfeffer, but UC Santa Barbara went up 8-6 with four in the fifth and one more in the sixth.
The Raiders scored four times in the bottom of the sixth, the big blow being a Cook three-run homer, but the Gauchos responded with four in the seventh to go ahead for good.
Cook finished with three hits and drove in four while Pfeffer had three hits and three runs scored.
In the second game, Boston College built a 4-0 lead through two innings, added another run in the fourth and broke the game open with six in the fifth. After Macey Gunther reached on an error, back-to-back singles from Libby Pfeffer and Becka Peterson produced a run and Macy Cook followed with a double to drive in Pfeffer.
Peterson paced the WSU offense with a double.
Wright State (1-3) wraps up tournament play on Sunday with a noon matchup against host Houston.
