The Wright State volleyball team closed out play in the Flyer Classic Sunday afternoon with a three-set setback to host Dayton at the Frericks Center. The Flyers won the match 25-17, 25-12, 25-16.
WSU only trailed 14-11 in the first set following an Ellen Senf kill before UD tallied the next four points to take control. The Flyers then jumped out to early leads in winning the final two sets, going up 12-4 in the second and 8-1 in the third.
Dayton led 37-26 in kills and outhit the Raiders .380-.045.
Senf and Splinter each had seven kills for the Raiders while Emily Meng had 22 assists. Splinter was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording 19 kills with 20 digs in three matches.
Wright State (6-11) now turns its attention to the start of Horizon League play next week as the Raiders head to Wisconsin for a pair of matches, taking on Green Bay on Friday, September 27, at 8:00 Eastern and Milwaukee on Saturday, September 28, at 5:00 Dayton time.
