The Wright State volleyball team Saturday dropped a 3-0 decision to Flyer Classic champion Western Kentucky at the Frericks Center. The Hilltoppers, who received votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won the match 25-10, 25-17, 25-13.
WKU jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the opening set and hit .615 (17/1/26) while the Raiders were at .138 (8/4/29). Western Kentucky continued its strong hitting in the second set at .481 and matched that number in the final set as the Hilltoppers broke away from a 12-9 lead with a 7-2 run.
WKU dominated the team stats, collecting 47 kills compared to 28 for Wright State and outhitting the Raiders .525-.184.
Ruffing led WSU as she hit .353 with nine kills while Senf added eight kills. Emily Meng dished out 26 assists while Miranda Puthoff had eight digs.
Wright State (6-10) closes out tournament play on Sunday by taking on host and crosstown rival Dayton at 2:00.
