Softball Completes Series Sweep of Detroit
Release: Sunday 04/28/2013
by WSU Athletic Media Relations

Wright State quickly erased a 2-0 deficit with seven runs in the bottom of the first and went on to a 10-2 run-rule decision over Detroit Sunday at the WSU Softball Field, completing the series sweep.

After the Titans scored twice in the top of the first, the Raiders sent 12 batters to the plate in tallying seven in the bottom of the frame.  After Jess Gorman led off with a double to left center, Hanna Floyd hit her second home run in as many days, a two-run shot off the scoreboard in left, to tie the game.  Three straight singles by Alex Machen, Kaitlyn Kite and Taylor Knore loaded the bases and Kortney Tackett made it four in a row with a hit up the middle to drive in Machen and give WSU the lead for good.

One out later, Angie Clark walked to force in a run and Gorman was hit by a pitch with two outs to make it 5-2.  Floyd then closed out the inning with a two-run single to left.

Reagan Stofcheck had an RBI single in the second and added another in the fourth to make it 9-2 and Wright State forced the run-rule in the fifth as Machen singled in Gorman.

Krystian DeWitt (10-12) picked up her third win of the series by pitching 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, scattering three hits and a walk while striking out two.

Offensively, Floyd, Machen, Kite, Tackett and Stofcheck each had two hits with Floyd driving in four and Stofcheck two.  Gorman and Kite each scored twice.

Wright State (14-31, 9-9 Horizon) wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, April 30, with a 4:00 doubleheader against Miami.
