Baseball Falls at Valparaiso

by WSU Athletic Media Relations

Valparaiso scored two or more runs in six of the first seven innings en route to a 17-5 decision over Wright State in Horizon League baseball action Saturday afternoon at Emory G. Bauer Field.

The Raiders opened the scoring with a run in the first as Kieston Greene had a hit to left and Garrett Gray drove him home with a double down the left field line, but that lead was shortlived as the Crusaders tallied a pair of runs in their half of the first and added six more in the second and two in the third to go up 10-1.

WSU scored single runs in the fourth and fifth and tacked on two in the eighth on a Mark Fowler sacrifice fly and a Jeff Limbaugh RBI double, but could get no closer.

Greene, Michael Timm and Gray each had two hits for Wright State (18-20, 6-8 Horizon), which wraps up the series with a single game Sunday starting at 2:00 Eastern.
