Cleveland State scored twice in the fourth and made that stand up for a 2-1 Horizon League decision over Wright State Friday afternoon at the WSU Softball Field.
WSU's Krystian DeWitt and CSU's Susan Knight were locked up in a scoreless pitcher's duel until the Vikings scored twice in the fourth on RBI singles by Dara Toman and Caila Ferro.
The Raiders cut the deficit to one with an unearned run in the sixth. Kacie Rapshus led off with a single through the left side of the infield and moved up second on an Alanna Williams bunt. After Lindsay Barrett walked, an errant throw on Hanna Floyd's bunt attempt allowed Rapshus to score and Barrett to go to third.
Barrett and Floyd, though, were left stranded as Jess Gorman lined out and Taylor Knore grounded out. Wright State then was retired in order in the seventh.
DeWitt finished with six strikeouts and did not walk a batter in scattering five hits.
Wright State (3-19, 0-1 Horizon) and Cleveland State (10-11, 1-0 Horizon) close out the weekend series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00.
