Women Fall at #16/17 Ohio State

The Wright State women's basketball team fell behind 22-4 early and never recovered in dropping an 82-52 decision at #16/17 Ohio State Sunday afternoon at Value City Arena.

Ohio State scored the first nine points of the contest and led 22-4 before the Raiders responded with an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to 24-15 with 7:30 remaining in the first half.  The Buckeyes, however, followed with nine straight points and took a 42-25 advantage into the halftime break.

OSU shot 52 percent in the first half compared to 29 percent for WSU.

The margin was 18 five minutes into the second half before the Buckeyes went on another 9-0 run to break the game open.

Ohio State shot 49 percent overall, including eight of 18 from three-point range, while Wright State shot 31 percent altogether and was seven of 22 from behind the arc.  The Buckeyes led 32-18 in points in the paint and 29-12 in points off of turnovers.

Kim Demmings led the Raiders with 17 points while Ivory James had her best game of the young season with 11 points and eight rebounds.  KC Elkins added nine points.

Tayler Hill paced Ohio State (4-1) with 17 points and eight rebounds while Amber Stokes had 13 points and six assists.

Wright State (2-2) faces another nationally-ranked team on Wednesday as the Raiders host crosstown rival Dayton (6-0) at 7:00.
