The Wright State volleyball team fell in three sets to Green Bay Friday night at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium. The Phoenix won the match 25-17, 27-25, 25-21.
The Raiders tied the opening set at 6-6 on a Heidi Splinter kill and a Green Bay attack error, but the Phoenix scored the next three points and held on to the advantage the rest of the way.
The second set featured 15 ties and six lead changes, including Green Bay going in front 24-23 with four straight points. A service error tied it at 24 and Dani Branco tied it again at 25 with a kill, but kills from Carmen Leitermann and Lyndsay Zabkowicz closed out the set.
Green Bay went in front in the final set with three straight to break an early 2-2 tie and led the rest of the way despite WSU cutting the deficit to three on two occasions late.
The Phoenix finished with a 50-36 kill advantage and outhit the Raiders .281-.167.
Splinter paced WSU with 15 kill and nearly had a double-double as she tallied nine digs. Libero Katie Glassmeyer had 20 digs and setter Ashleigh Lucco dished out 30 assists.
Wright State (2-29, 0-13 Horizon) closes out the season Saturday with a 2:00 home match against Milwaukee.
