The Wright State men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 exhibition to #10 Akron Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Zips scored all five of their goals with a 20-minute span in the latter part of the first half as they recorded 15 shots in the period. The two teams then battled to a scoreless tie in the second half.
"When you play top teams, you can not give them mistakes and not expect them to capitalize," said WSU head coach Bryan Davis. "We had a player take a second yellow card, which meant he was ejected 15 minutes into the game. In any game against any team, that's setting yourself up for a long day. Against Akron, they live on making you pay for those errors."
"We settled down enough to compete and hold them without a goal in the second half, but overall, we have a ton to work on," added Davis. "I am confident we will be just fine."
Wright State closed out the exhibition slate on Sunday, August 19, by hosting Marquette at Alumni Field starting at noon.
