The Wright State baseball team led 2-0 early, only to see UIC explode for 13 runs over a two-inning span, including nine in the second, and go on to a 19-9 decision at the Horizon League Tournament in Chicago Thursday.
WSU went up 2-0 in the first on RBI singles by Tristan Moore and Ryan Ashe, but the Flames answered with four in the second and then broke the game open with nine in the third.
The Raiders cut the deficit to 13-7 with five in the third, including a two-run double from Jake Hibberd and a Kyle Mossbarger run-scoring single, but could get no closer as UIC scored in all but one inning after the first.
Wright State rounded out its scoring with one in the fifth as Zach Tanner singled in Moore and one in the ninth as Corey Davis hit an opposite-field home run to left center, his fourth of the season.
Davis, Moore and Ashe each had two hits, with Davis also driving in two and scoring twice.
Wright State (36-20) faces Milwaukee in an elimination game Friday morning at 11:00 Eastern. Should the Raiders win that one, they would be right back in action at 4:00 Dayton time against the loser of Thursday's final game between Valparaiso and Youngstown State.
