Prior to being named Wright State's third Director of Athletics, Grant's experience at WSU involved him in nearly every aspect of college athletics.  Grant instituted changes to improve the fan and the student-athlete experience such as the Raider Lounge, Kids Zone, "Lights Out" introductions for basketballs and a new Raider branding within the Nutter Center.   Grant implemented a comprehensive fund raising plan for athletics that is still in use today.  Grant has had extensive sport supervision experience, closely overseeing virtually every team on a day-to-day basis at one point in his career.  This supervision involved Grant in all facets of these programs including scheduling, recruiting, academics, discipline and annual evaluations.  Grant directed the development of all-new athletic logos, resulting in a significant increase in the university's licensing revenue. He served on the university's licensing committee, oversaw the marketing and promotions area and directed the Hall of Fame voting/induction process. Among his professional highlights, Grant was a 1994 NCAA speaker/presenter at the annual NACDA conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and was awarded the 1998 Wright State President's Award for Excellence in collaboration.  Grant previously chaired the NCAA Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Issues Cabinet.

Grant was an adjunct instructor in the Raj Soin College of Business and also graduated from The Sports Management Institute. Grant received his MBA in marketing from Wright State in June, 2000.  He and his wife, Kim, have a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Braden.
